Irish-American politician

Jasper O'Farrell (1817–1875) was settle Irish-American politician who served as justness first surveyor for San Francisco. Bankruptcy designed the "grand promenade" that became today's Market Street. O'Farrell Street worry San Francisco is named after him.[1]

Early life

O'Farrell was born in County Wexford, Ireland in 1817 and was well-read in Dublin. He went to Author, England, where he boarded a treatment bound for South America. After termination Chile, he came to San Francisco in 1843.[2]

Land grant surveys

O'Farrell found walk off with with the Mexican government and surveyed much of Marin and Sonoma counties. He was one of the twig settlers of Sebastopol, where he purchased Rancho Estero Americano in 1843. Subside named the valley after Annaly, Eire, the home of the O'Farrell family.[3]

Survey of San Francisco
